Meet the Team – Nicola Pottage

For the last six years, I have been working in events in London, my new role at Delfina is a great challenge, which combines all my previous roles and encompasses the whole event journey, which I believe to be an important factor in delivering successful events and building client relationships.

My career started in a hotel, which gave me excellent training and the 'can do' attitude that I still stand by today. I worked on a broad variety of events, from small meetings and conferences to weddings and Christmas parties.

I then moved to English Heritage and a wide range of stunning venues. Primarily based at Eltham Palace, a stunning 1930's Art Deco house with a 15th Century medieval Great Hall, delivering a large number of weddings from April, through to the end of September. Working every Saturday in the summer, had a huge impact on my social life, so after two years, I left English Heritage to travel around the world, concentrating on nothing but my social life!

I travelled to South East Asia, a well-trodden back packer path and onto Australia and New Zealand, finishing up with three weeks in Fiji. On returning to London, I was extremely lucky, in the economic climate at the time, to be offered a job at St Martin–in–the–Fields, one of the most famous churches and music venues in London. Having just completed a £36million renewal project, my role was to increase their events business in both the historic crypt and newly built contemporary spaces.

The biggest change for me coming to Delfina, from St Martin–in–the–Fields, will be the office environment, going from an extremely male orientated office, to a predominately female one!
